:
Daniel Perez, a U.S. citizen and resident of Texas, was the Director of Maintenance and an owner of a U.S.-based aviation company (“Aviation Company”) from 1978 to 2016 and 1993 to 2010, respectively.

According to the DOJ, from approximately 2007 to 2015 Perez conspired to bribe foreign officials in Mexico to obtain and retain business for the Aviation Company. To hide the illegal payments, Perez and the Aviation Company created false commissions to give the foreign officials for work they had never rendered. In exchange for the improper payments, the foreign officials allegedly agreed to use the Aviation Company’s services.

On December 27, 2016, after the DOJ’s information was unsealed, the DOJ announced that Perez pleaded guilty to conspiracy to violate the FCPA on November 2, 2016.
